Elixir/BEAM systems, Bayesian inference, data science and analytics. Two decades of enterprise systems engineering
Octanix Americas LLC is an independent Elixir/OTP engineering practice in Detroit, MI, focused on the harder end of BEAM systems work. Active since 2025 under Octanix Americas; the underlying practice extends back to 2011 (Credorax PCI-DSS payment processing, Boston + Malta).
## Engagement profile: architecture-level Elixir/OTP design and implementation, performance engineering and observability, Rust NIF hot-path integration for performance-critical inner loops, regulated-environment system delivery (PCI-DSS, financial services, healthcare-class), and BEAM-on-FreeBSD specialty work. Fully remote, async-friendly, all US and Canada time zones.
## Capability anchors — public artifacts:
- eXMC (github.com/borodark/exmc) — Bayesian probabilistic-programming framework on Elixir/BEAM. NUTS sampler, dual-averaging step-size adaptation, mass-matrix estimation, EXLA/EMLX/BinaryBackend runtime swap, Rust NIF tree-builder hot path. Seven-phase optimization study landed at 1.9x faster than PyMC on hierarchical models.
- sim_ex (github.com/borodark/sim_ex) — discrete-event simulation on Elixir with 23 PropCheck stateful properties and Rust NIF at 6.4M events/sec. ACM SIGPLAN Erlang Workshop 2026 at ICFP paper submitted.
- nx_vulkan — Vulkan GPU tensor backend for Nx; only known production GPU compute path for Elixir on FreeBSD.
- zed — ZFS-plus-Elixir declarative BEAM deploy tool with Bastille jail-orchestration adapter live-verified on FreeBSD 15
